Our inspiration is definitely related to how we had to push the buildings within the boundaries and constraints of this auditorium. Given the proximity to the Mumbai Auditorium, the client wanted an interpretation of the Art Deco heritage, where we avoided too many overlays in the form of mouldings, architraves, and panelled walls, and interpreted the traditional form as a line drawing, minimal but graphic.
